Animal Breeder

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who can demonstrate initiative, drive and the ability to work in a team environment. Responsible for daily preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of feed lines. Work as part of a team to improve sow unit reliability and efficiency. Daily communication with management to improve sow unit reliability and preventative maintenance.

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Zootechnic, or Animal Science

  • Communication skills for teaching workers basic system functions that are core to the businesses performance and development.

  • Experience on a farm, or a sow farm  preferred

  • Detail oriented individual passionate about schedules, setting expectations, and getting results

  • Computer skills - Office, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Ability to work successfully with limited supervision.

Qualifications

  • Ensure strict compliance to all biosecurity protocols and take action as necessary.

  • Maintain animal movement records. Including piglets are farrowed, weaned, and sow and piglet deaths. 

  • Ensure animal wellness 

  • Ensure best practices are being followed during the Artificial Insemination process.

  • Provide a safe and reliable efficient operation

  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the site.

  • Hold employees accountable for the care and cleanliness of the site.

  • Reinforce compliance of all policies and procedures.

  • Conduct team meetings to communicate the goals and direction of the farm and the company.

  • Ensure all safety procedures are in place and take action to lower safety incidents on the farm.

  • Ensure safety equipment is provided and utilized by all farm staff.

  • Promote a safe, professional, and positively motivating work environment.

  • Implement discipline processes as necessary and provide direction for employees to improve.

  • Ability to problem solve and train will help develop technically minded people within our corporation and enhance our daily operations. 

  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain facility equipment

This position will report directly to the Farm manager.
